Haunted Places
By GhostFanMike at October 16, 2007 - 10:29pm | Haunted Places I was wondering if Anyone has heard of this or have any helpful information. I am interested in going on one of these tours provided they DO indeed exist and are at least somewhat worth any time and energy invested. I appreciate any info anyone has ...thanks.

By pamela0965 at May 2, 2007 - 11:28pm | Haunted Places Does anyone know of an actual haunted house? I've been to one when I was 10 yrs old. But, its a long story.. so I'll tell you about it another time.
By Sketcher at January 31, 2007 - 2:30pm | Haunted Places I've always wondered about something, so hopefully someone here has an answer to this question. Why is it that we always hear about ghosts in basements, or peering out from closets, or all these corners and so on. Is there a reason they'd be in these parts of houses in general? Is it because it's dark? If I was a ghost I think I'd much prefer to hang out in the living room where the tv is on at least or a sunroom where I could stare outside. LOL...seriously! The question came to me because I've always been afraid of basements. You know, big brother scaring his little sister with "woooo...watch out for the ghooooooooosts....". Now I'm almost 40 and I STILL freak out in the basement. My hubby goes out of town and I won't go downstairs to do laundry in our NEW house! Ok, quit laughing at me. So yesterday I HAD to go downstairs and the question popped into my mind "why the hell am I afraid of the basement? If there are ghosts, they could come upstairs, too." hahaha. Any thoughts? Is it maybe just hollywood and movies that have planted this basements = ghost pads mentality? Sketcher

By Legrand at November 12, 2006 - 10:38am | Haunted Places There have been several acts of violence here. About 20 years ago a man escaped from a mental home and broke into the front office. In the process he broke several windows, trashed the place, slit his wrists and neck, and was found by the sales staff in the morning wrapped in a blanket talking to himself. He did not die but it was a very violent experience. 10 or so years ago a man was distressed over losing his parents and shot himself in the head overnight on top of his parent’s grave. Several of the grounds crew have seen a man dematerialize in the same area a few times. This was in the summit hill garden which is the oldest garden in the cemetery. In the day or night there can be an overwhelming feeling of being watched. About 6 or 7 years ago there was a sales manager who quit after seeing an Indian in the sales office walk thru a wall. There is also a story not verified that a police officer shot a teenager on the grounds and the boy died and was buried there. In the months following the cop went mad and one night was caught wearing camouflage and face paint digging up the boy that he killed. There have also been a few graves that people have tried to dig up but have failed since the vault lids are VERY heavy. Last Halloween I went there for a few hours by myself from 12 to 3AM and I saw several strange lights that seemed to come from the ground and go in random directions. I heard several screams from oak chapel, and heard a whispered conversation in Masonic II. I felt watched and I felt a presence that wanted me to leave but I stayed until 3AM anyways since I think hauntings are cool. I work there and I am willing to show people around if anyone wants to do an investigation to see if there is more to this. Please email me first before you check it out becasue the other workers will not talk about the paranormal.

By Doombuggy101 at July 3, 2006 - 7:21pm | Haunted Places Did anybody hear of the various accounts from Disneyland Cast Members and guests have been complaining about apparitions since the 1970's? Pretty fascinating stuff. I wonder if there's other stories and legends that I've missed (other than the little boy crying at the exit ramp, whose mother snuck his cremated ashes into the Haunted Mansion and spread his remains there), the "tuxedo man," the "man with the cain" who rides endlessly, etc. What an awesome place for hauntings, I think.
By MagnusApollo at April 27, 2006 - 12:56pm | Haunted Places http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/04/11/asylum.condos.ap/index.html I think we should go and check this place out!!! Across the nation, former state hospitals for the mentally ill -- with dated names like "lunatic asylum" -- are being converted into homes. Even the ominous Danvers State Hospital, once described as "the scariest building in the world" and a favorite destination of ghost-hunting thrill-seekers, soon will be home to laptop-toting latte drinkers. "There's obviously a lot of notoriety associated with the site," said Scott Dale, a vice president at AvalonBay Communities Inc., which is constructing 497 luxury apartments and condominiums. "We think, at the end of the day, that will be helpful." No units are on the market yet. But Dale expressed confidence that occupancy won't be hurt by the property's jaded past, including a cemetery with some unmarked graves -- one reminder of the sad history of treatment of the mentally ill. The property development formula has been successful elsewhere.
