anyone want to discuss extra senses

By BobbyT at October 20, 2006 - 2:58pm | General

I was thinking about possible 6th senses. They need not all necessarily be metaphysical. It occured to me that what is considered a sixth sense by many could be a culmination of the 5 known senses + extra sensitivity of other body parts all working together. Perhaps the skin itself and nerves sense and interperate things in the environment and our subconscious processes the information. If something is detected then it comes across as a feeling to our conscious mind. Like when you know someone is watching you, you just feel it. Possibly a combination of the nose, ears, skin, and nervous system detecting something behind you, and you can turn around and look right to where the person is.

Does this sound crazy? Or does it sound feasable?

My Spidey Sense is Tingling!

Hmmm... I'm not so sure about thet feeling when someone else is watching you... But perhaps the ability to see aparitions an extension of your optical senses... the same going for sensing the paranormal with your ears touch and such...

The senses do work together yes, however I do note that blind people have heightened hearing, as they develop this sense more in the lack of the other. Not really sure.

I think the 6th sense is more of a working term for those undefined by the other five. Such as emotion... You can sense when someone else is elated or depressed. I'm not talking about logically through body language, I mean actually being able to feel another person's emotions, being empathic.

Those are my thoughts, though I'm not strongly opinionated on this topic.
