The Warrens Video

By Christopher_Slim at July 19, 2006 - 1:33pm | General

I stumbled across some footage of an investigation that the Warrens were involved in. I've never seen it before.
Has anyone else seen this particular footage?

As is usual with the Warrens, there appears to be some smoke but most of the fire is missing from view.

I'm no where near a skeptic but this video has some characteristics that annoy me. For example, when the daughter is doing homework and the stool is shaking, why not have the mother stand away from the back of the chair so no one even thinks to suspect her of shaking the chair? Also, why is the kid so calm as if a ghostly encounter isn't a bizarre occurrence?

The camera angles, as Doug pointed out, are also poorly chosen. If one is a professional and one goes to the expense of having videographers show up, then why not use them to the best advantage and get shots that remove instead of create suspicion?

More Vids to take a look at

I also stumbled across these videos.
From the screen graphics, it looks like they are taken from a documentary on the Bravo network.
Has anyone seen this program? If so, let me know the name of it.

The Warrens Video

By Doug on July 20, 2006 - 2:14pm

Unfortunately, an explanation could be created for each and every manifestation documented in the video. Of course, I would tend to trust the Warrens, but a card-carrying skeptic certainly wouldn't.

Multiple camera angles would have been nice, for example. But even with multiple camera angles, how can you convince someone that the situation was under complete control. There were many folks in that kitchen, and I'm wondering what it would sound like if someone could combine Michael Winslow's skills with his voice and ventriloquism to produce knocking effects. It would just take one quasi-talented goofball to foul up an entire investigation.

Regardless, the report says that they did attain relief from the poltergeist...so the folks were helped. I'm extremely happy about that.

Perhaps this could be an opportunity for learning how to take video of an event for future cases so there can be little, if any, question about the phenomena being documented. Starting with multiple camera angles. I mean on the floor, up at the ceiling, pointing at the main focus of the event (the table & the people around it in the above example), the next room, etc. I don't know, it's not for me to decide...but I can certainly hope that someone somewhere comes up with a list of desired camera coverage to reduce the chance of dismissal.

agreed

I was thinking the same thing, Doug.
When the table and chairs move, we dont get a complete shot down to the floor. The knocking responses to the questions could have also been easily done.
I'm on the side of the Warrens, but a skeptic would tear this apart.

WHOA!

By TushyGalore on July 19, 2006 - 10:56pm

That's pretty amazing stuff! I have no idea where that's from or why I havn't heard anyone talking about it before. That's pretty powerful stuff!

Do you think that's the "A Haunting in Connecticut" family... you know, the ones that were living in a former funeral home?
