Ambrose Bierce?

By Fashtall on July 8, 2006 - 11:34am

If my memory serves me, Bierce vanished in December of 1913 (just before or just after Christmas?) At the time he was part of the army of Pancho Villa (sp?) as an observer or something like that ( this was during the Constitutionalist Revolt. ).
One of the last letters he sent was sort of a Good-bye. In that letter Bierce said that being a “Gringo” in Mexico is pretty much suicide and that if they should hear that he was shot to bits somewhere that is a better way to die than getting old.
It seems pretty likely that this is just what happened in some way shape or form.
