The annunaki.

Well, well, a virgin forum. I guess I'm not likely to find as suitable place for a virgin poster, eh? Hehe.

What do you guys think of the Annunaki, or Sitchin in general? Last time I visited Ghosttalk was a couple years back, back then you guys only had a few episodes in your archives.. I stumble back across the site by almost COMPLETE chance, and to my satisfaction found MANY new shows. Well, new to me, as I hadn't heard very many at all. But none on the Annunaki. Unless, of course, the episode was named after a speaker on the subject, in which case, I'd only recognize the names Martell, or Sitchin, unfortunately.

I have read most of Sitchin's books, and find him better at investigating these things than Von Danniken (sp?), who I find to be grabbing at straws, and just plain messing with the evidence to fit his theories. He also tries to sensationalize it all, rather than letting the "evidence" tell the story.

Sitchin tends to present the facts, give his take on it, then let the readers make up their own minds. He doesn't just take a single tablet with an random inscription on it to present a theory, he likes to dig deeper and find other supporting evidence to support it.

Whether it is true or not, I find Sitchin's take on it plausible and well researched.

Annu-na na na

Personally, the whole Annunaki and Nibiru and Marduk and genetic manipulation of humankind crap is getting stale.
Why do I feel this way? Because only a handful of people are pushing the idea. And because the Sumerians and their life and culture is a bit sketchy.
There is a lot of speculation in regards to the Sumerians. And to put it bluntly, they were friggin' nuts! Sacrificing people, coming up out of the primordial ooze already containing the know-how to build a great civilation, only to collapse into smaller, more destructive people's like those darn Babylonians.
The Sumerians were like Satanic worshippers...and there history clashes with the history painted by the ancients of India about their Gods in flying machines terrorizing and burning whole peoples to the ground.
I mean, don't get me wrong...I bought every book Sitchin ever wrote and I got CHARIOTS OF THE GODS too...I am just not as hopeful of the theory as I was when I was say, 16 or so, and I beleived in everything I read.
The idea is shady and needs more weight, but as for the idea of EVIL et's copulating with humans and creating a new species, I can get with that...because it's in the bible.

on a total bit of irony.... as was reading this, I happen to be listening to the December 22nd podcast of Coast to Coast with sitchin on it.

I do think that his work is intriguing, and I'm a HUGE fan of sumarian culture and history. I personally don't care for the man himself.

There are other authors that offer some interesting information on the subject Sherry Shriner, Laurence Gardner and David Icke. though Icke claims that they were of reptilian nature and that they fed on human flesh. With the sumarian interesting knowledge of the solar system and it's ways and that in their own writings they say that they had learned everything from their gods from the heavens it's a hard thing not to ignore. If you want to see the boring side of it all there is an old book written by a person who things that it's all hogwash, so it's kinda interesting to get his take on it then look at the individuals I had mentioned above. The book i'm referring to is A. Leo Oppenheim's, Ancient Mesopotamia: Portrait of a Dead Civilization.

Personally I believe that we were visited during these times... for good or bad I'm not sure yet. It just seems like the sumarians sort of came up with civilization in a blink of an eye. Now, I would hate to short change humans and their remarkable abilities, but it does seem peculiar.

What is your take on the whole thing?
