RESIGNATION NOT ACCEPTED:

By TimYancey at May 23, 2006 - 12:27am | General

I recently read on the Ghostly Talk main page some kind of schiznat where Will has decided to resign from the radio program... because he played a song and offended somebody.

Tough shit. Your not getting off that easy, buddy... and as a duly appointed card carrying t-shirt wearing EMF detector toting dedicated listener of 'Ghostly Talk' for a number of years now... I absolutely REFUSE to even consider your resignation on behalf of the entire internet.

Will has contributed much to the Ghostly Talk program... his time, energy and devotion, not to mention the amazing ability to drink beer quietly during a broadcast and not burp ONCE the entire season. I will NOT have one goofy mistake on his part overshadow years of hard work and dedication to something he obviously loves. Besides, my girlfriend thinks he's cute and cuddly... Okay I lied, I think he's cute and cuddly.

I oppose radio censorship of ANY kind - whether it be the FCC slamming Howard Stern... or even some average buttnugget on the street getting his panties all knotted up because he heard something he didn't like. Contrary to poular belief, this is NOT ClearChannel... you can say what you like.

If your going to punish the guy... stick him in a small closet with a pair of Scott L's crusty tennis shoes for two days. Not only do I insist that Will return to his rightful place at the Ghostly Talk Round Table... I DEMAND that Ghostly Talk issue an immediate press release advising their listeners to grow up. If you don't... I'm going to stick my fingers into a toaster.

Tim

Save Will

By Underdog505 on May 23, 2006 - 8:59pm

I think after a a couple of pages Will might see the light.
I think it would be a serious blow to the show if Will was to leave. I hope he reconsiders.

Will, Please stay!

By Dee on May 23, 2006 - 7:25pm

If this is your decision alone, we'll have to respect it, but I feel so sad about all this brouhaha over 1 lousy song...please don't let this be a battle of egos and do the right thing for Will. He's invaluable to the show and Ghostly Talk makes me so happy in ways no other show on Earth can. I love to hear you guys laugh and razz each other. This has bothered me all day, I'm not sure how it can be the same. Good luck in this process, but you all will always have my support.

Is it just Will??

By mertle on May 23, 2006 - 5:55pm

I was amazed to read the resignation of Will this morning!

Is it just him that wants to leave or has it caused a rift in the GT lineup?

I don't think it will ever be the same without you Will!!! Please don't go!

I think I say this for most of the listeners that we really don't think what happened was SO bad that you have to resign!

PLEASE STAY!!!!

Will

As a middle-aged mom I have to say that I can't understand any of the words in you young people's music anyway. Will, why don't you just chalk this up as a learning experience and continue on a little wiser? I'll bet even the people who complained don't want to see you go, they're just letting you know how they feel. Man, this even sounds mom-like, but I don't care. I'm a loyal listener and my opinion counts.

He can't leave because

By Muggle on May 23, 2006 - 2:48pm

of something as petty as a song!
I didn't like it either, but I simply turned down
my speakers for a moment. Big deal.

And how is that song any different from the old commercial (I'm assuming it was a prank call) about a girl wanting to have sex with a ghost?

Was Will maybe already planning to leave?

I second that!

By DARKBUTTERFLY on May 23, 2006 - 1:09pm

As I said in the shout box....I didn't even notice the song. I guess some people pay more attention to the breaks than I do. I hate it that this mistake would cause the GT crew to be down a member. I do respect him for his decision however (if it was indeed his decision alone). If that's what he feels he needs to do, then the best of luck to him.

I have nothing but respect for you Will. You are a strong guy. It took real integrity to do what you did. If it was your decision alone, then I respect that. If it was something that was decided for you....I think that's sad. It just won't be the same without you. I hope you change your mind. I think that anyone that was offended by that song and complained about it, doesn't understand the concept of GT anyway. It was my understanding that in the beginning at least, Ghostly Talk was a place where people could speak their mind and express their opinions without feeling like they were being looked down on. I'm totally bummed about this whole thing. I can't even concentrate at work today.......PLEASE STAY WILL :0(

Geeez!I get home from

By Christopher_Slim on May 23, 2006 - 12:45pm

Geeez!
I get home from touring, log into Ghostly Talk to catch up on things that i've missed....only to find out that Will is leaving?!?!?!?!
WTF?!?!?!? This was a sad suprise. Will is one cool kat and I don't want to see him go....but if he feels he must, i guess i gotta respect his decision.
I mean, damn....if that Aaron Donahue show from back in the day didn't cause any permanent damage to GT...i can't imagine that 1 suggestive tune would cause a problem.

Will, keep in touch. You have my info.

What a load...

By DarkSoulEater on May 27, 2006 - 10:08am

I heard the now infamous song that Will played, and I gotta say, it was tame compared to the one a few weeks ago that was about having a painful erection. Too bad that in this day and age a sense of humor is something to be chastised for. What a load of crap! I think I'm going to start a campaign to end the pussificication of america, who's with me? This excessive sensitivity stuff has gone way too far.
