I heard something somewhere..

By MissTeacher on April 11, 2006 - 4:10pm

I don't even remember where anymore... *scoops up her melted brain into a plastic container* ... but I remember hearing/reading that 3am is the "hour" because it is mocking the hour that Christ was believed to have been crucified/died on the cross - 3pm - and so 3am is the "opposite" of sorts. I don't agree that this theory makes much sense... I didn't come up with it.. just heard it somewhere.

3am ... pshaw!

By Doug on April 11, 2006 - 1:28am

3am was the time mentioned in that Emily Rose movie. It must be catching on... One wonders what their source was for that little factoid.

The general rule I had heard before that was between midnight to 2am, as Underdog mentioned. Discussions regarding this have brought up interesting points such as, for example, the observation that one is usually not distracted by work, family, traffic, etc. at such times and may be more apt to notice paranormal events.

I have heard it's between 12 midnight and 2am. I must have read it somewhere. Let me check my library to see if I have a book on it.

I really doubt there is a "best" time. Think about it... Daylight Savings Time shifts the clock by an hour twice a year. Do ghosts set set their watches back and ahead every six months?

By MagnusApollo on April 11, 2006 - 9:04pm

I would think that a spirit or soul would revert back to a natural cyclical calendar if it truly mattered.

Lunar cycles, Seasons, soltices and things like that.

If I'm a ghost, I don't want to ahve to worry if today is feb29 or March 1st if I'm offering wisdom or scarying people on my anniversary.
