Video of malevolent ghost/entity

This one is iffy, the way it moves and it's height are on a bizarre realistic level however anyone could stage the other factors. What do you guys think?

Barton video

By Doug on April 19, 2006 - 12:23am

Will did indeed buy the video. And I borrowed it!

I watched the video.

After the image in the doorway makes itself known, it takes them 45 seconds to run down the flights of stairs, out the door, across the yard (ducking through an opening in a wire fence), across the road, in their truck, and driving/moving WITH THE DOOR OPEN to get away from there.

It would take me 45 minutes to do all of that--and even then, I'd be out of breath and needing a caffeine injection.

So they were either genuinely startled or extremely athletic actors.

While the number of frames that contains the figure that caused the rapid evacuation of the site is a very low number, there is more visual information when played back on a DVD player rather than the compressed capture posted to the web. The basics are there...the figure is indeed holding a self-luminescent object that might perhaps be a little larger than a common halloween/raver glowstick. The figure might be slightly transparent, but with so few frames it is rather difficult to tell even on the DVD.

My overall opinion is that, without more information, the Barton Mansion video is entertainment. When taken as presented, I must classify it as a fun exercise in filmmaking (in the style of Blair Witch, only with an urban exploration theme instead of a folklore/legend theme).

Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically applaud the Barton Mansion folks. They're out there doing independent stuff and getting talked about and making other folks think, dream, and wonder. I really dig that.

ehhh

By MagnusApollo on March 2, 2006 - 12:55am

As Chris put it..

"Dude... that's a dude!"

Whatever it is, it's pretty tall. and it's carrying a torch, that is a solid tube, which looks a bit like the coleman single bulb flourescent versions.

Seriously, The people filming it are about as graceful at filming at first as a pitbull on a kitten. They don't look at anything, until the random thing on the left, which seems like a visual queue for who ever is in the door to get ready.

I say, maybe they didn't fake it, but it's a person messing with them.

Here are some of the more impressive images I had snagged from the vid.

crisp image, looks like fabric.

I'm iffy about it, too

By MissTeacher on March 1, 2006 - 6:00pm

For starters, it looks like it's holding a flashlight? I tried to go frame by frame by moving the slide. The video isn't very clear... so it's hard to tell. Kinda makes you go .. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

The being is holding a lantern that accually goes out(I never really worked with a lantern to know if its hard or not to put one out) upon seeing the flashlight/camera guys.

I compared this to the other

By GarageSorcerer on March 1, 2006 - 4:29pm

I compared this to the other video on here(the ebaums with the girl). The girl once is merely some chick with glasses on looking away, theres not even some ethereal evidence in the least. If you watch that video closely at times you will see that entity is ethereal at times.

iffy....

By daveamania on March 1, 2006 - 3:49pm

its a really kewl video, but I'm kinda iffy on it as well. It could've been somebody pulling a prank on the ghost hunters.

It's fun, but fake...

By Max Szabo on March 2, 2006 - 7:14pm

The long pause as the camera POV and flashlight spots gather in the corner of the room prior to the big smash-reveal is the giveaway.

Plus the fact that the figure looks quite a bit like a performer doing their best to strike a ghostly pose. (That bundle of rags that whips out of view early in the smash-reveal is also suspicious.)

Which is not to say that I wouldn't be the first person in the party to get down the stairs and hit the ground floor running, even if I was in on the shenanigans from the start...
