On the subject of cemeteries..

By 8bit at February 28, 2006 - 2:52pm | Ghost Hunting Tips & Tricks

I've had a few interactions with Ghosthunters and other paranormal enthusiast and I'm always met with the same debate. Some say cemeteries are an ideal place to do a last minute ghost hunt, while others say they dont do cemeteries at all. I wanted to open this up for discussion and clear the air on where some of us stand on the issue. Feel free to post your opinions whether experienced or not, I'd really like to know how you feel about the issue.

In my experience, which goes back to my teen years, I honestly believe in the capacity of a cemetery to retain some paranormal energy. I believe, and I've heard psychic mediums speak on this issue, that our spirit stays with us up until the time of the funeral and our family and friends let us go so to speak. Now what if we have no family or friends to let us go? Or what if we were buried without a funeral? What if we had unfinished business and followed the family to the cemetery whereupon we lost our way or simply became trapped?

That would be the mystical side of my opinion, on a more physical level, I believe that the modern day casket itself has the power to become a sort of capacitor. If you think about it a simple electronic capacitor is nothing but foil and paper wound tightly into a roll, and becomes a storage unit for energy.

The main law of physics is "Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transfered".

When you take into account the number of caskets in any given cemetery along with the insulating properties of the earth, you have one whopper of a paranormal battery! Sounds crazy I know, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. It might explain all of the orb activity we get in these yards, energy leakage perhaps?

Please post up and let us know why or why not cemeteries are/arent a good idea!

CEMETARIES

By jbone74 on March 26, 2007 - 4:15pm

I HAVE TO SAY THAT IS A VERY INTERESTING THEORY, ONE WORTH LOOKING INTO FARTHER, (AND I WILL),BUT HOW DOES IT ACCOUNT FOR OLDER SPIRITS FROM MORE THAN 100 YEARS AGO,FROM OLD WEST( WHICH WERE BURIED IN PINE BOXES OR NOTHING AT ALL,; TO HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO WHEN FOLKS LIVED IN CASTLES, SURELY YOU SAW THE EPISODE OF GHOSTHUNTERS AT LOCKE CASTLE IN IRELAND, AND THE THINGS THEY ALL SAW THERE INDIVDUALLY ALL MATCHED WITH EACH OTHERS DESCRIPTION OF THOSE FROM THAT TIME, SURELY THEY WERE NOT BURIED IN A METAL BOX, NOT TO SAY THAT WHAT YOUR SAYING ISN'T TRUE,OR THAT IT SIMPLY DOES HELP PLAY SOME FACTOR IN (HIEGHTENED)SENSITIVITY.BUT THAT IT CAN'T BE THE TOTAL FOUNDATION BEHIND PARANORMAL ACTIVITY IN CEMETARIES, AND BEYOUND.

The main problem is with a

By Poppy on January 15, 2008 - 12:20pm

The main problem is with a cemetaries is that they are to open and the risk of having"interference"from an outside source, and EVPs are hard to prove as real, everyones favorite picture, ORBs, are most likely bugs or dust or even pollen, then theres the head stones so shadows are everywhere. Not to mention we are raised with a mind set that graveyards are scary places so most go in to them with a frame of mind that"ghosts live there". So I don't do them.

I've had more EVPs away from cemeteries

By OMS Transmitting on March 17, 2007 - 2:21am

Hi there. I've had more EVPs away from cemeteries, than at them. But to be fair, I don't record there as much as other places because the recording conditions at cemeteries are crap, far too many ambient noises that can make you hear "EVP"s w/your imagination lol.

A similar type location is mausoleums, where ppl's ashes get stored. Have picked up a few EVPs at those, but no more than at other places. Honestly, the ghost theory doesn't hold much weight for me so far, as I pick up equal or more EVPs in the land of the living.

Sometimes I wonder if we pick up stuff at certain locations simply because we believe we will. Who knows, right?

PARAPHSYCOGOLY

By jbone74 on March 26, 2007 - 4:25pm

YOU MAY BE RIGHT ON THAT LAST COMMENT ABOUT WE JUST BELIEVE THAT WE'LL FIND SOMETHING( EVP OR OTHERWISE) SO THERE IT IS, BUT IF THATS TRUE THEN WE ARE CAPABLE OF FAR MORE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL PHENOMENA THEN MOST OF THE HUMAN RACE GIVES US CREDIT FOR, I'M NOT VERY RELIGOUS, BUT THAT MAY HAVE BEEN WHAT JESUS MEANT WHEN HE SAID MAN WE DO ALL THE THINGS I HAVE DONE, AND GREATER.PREHAPS WE ARE SIMPLY NOT READY FOR THAT YET, BUT ON ANOTHER NOTE YOU SHOULD READ PARAPHSYCOGOLY BY HANS HOLZER, THIS GUY IS AMAZING, AND HAS LOTS TO DISCUSS ON THIS AND MANY OTHER SUBECTS,INVOLVING THE PARANORMAL.I THINK YOU'LL LIKE IT ALOT, I DID.

You can generally get "orbs"

By GarageSorcerer on March 1, 2006 - 3:37pm

You can generally get "orbs" or even "smoke" at cemetarys. I haven't gotten a full fledge appartion yet at one or faces. I guess it also depends on the cemetary. The first night I went to the local one I didn't get any results on film. However I did get results from the tape recorder(only 1). The second time I went(with information from over the web) I got results. As for "haunted" places, i've only really ever been to two and its a lot harder to scoop them out.

ghost at cemetery's

By edoubleu7 on March 8, 2007 - 5:50am

my thoughts are to point out what the dead have to say about this. that's right what the dead have reported, that is if we take the mindset that these are ghost. always keeping an open mind here...1st, Ghost or earth bound spirits do visit cemeteries they aren't likely to haunt the place, as they are much like we are, they return from time to time to see how the body is getting along, they have reported how discussing it is as they enter the decaying body. it sickens them, the have reported that it would be better to cremate the body, but not for at least 10 day after death. and they don't like autopsy's, in that they are preformed to soon after death. the point is, earth bound spirits remain connected to the body not attached, but aware, if someone thinks about them, they often show up to see what is going on.
I have gotten severial very good ghost videos, faces, shadows, and forms going into and out of graves. but just like all huning adventures you need to know the habits of you quarry to give you the advantage. potluck just isn't good enough.
are ghost in cemeteries.... YES!, but not every dead person is a ghost. if you have crossed over, you will not likely be seen again .. Ed

Interesting .. But ...

By OMS Transmitting on May 20, 2007 - 12:52am

You have interesting theories, but just one question:

How can we state with certainty, that we know these individuals are dead people or ghosts? ... They could be a different type of being, similar to us, who live in parallel dimensions (quantum mechanical theory) and occasionally "seep" through.

EVP

By AvidLebon on June 28, 2007 - 12:34pm

With the replys I have gotten in EVP they usually respond to questions or what I am doing, so whoever it is is completely aware of me and this relm. Also some EVP claim to be individuals that are now dead, and sometimes even sound like them. I suppose it is possible they are lying, but if it looks like a duck, feels like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck.

I have gotten odd noises on

By GarageSorcerer on June 20, 2007 - 9:52pm

I have gotten odd noises on evp that I can't related to a ghost...eerie ethereal noises, moaning and inhuman grunting(the best word I can label it). I consider these entitys(atleast with the locations where I got them at) to be considered death-spirits(shinigami/reapers/angels of death/ect). However anything thats understandable or human sounding I label as a ghost.
