The one shining part

By Poppy on November 22, 2009 - 11:06pm

No it isn't a good show for the paranormal field, BUT then other than shows like GT and maybe some of the old Art Bell shows are? The good thing, and this is the shining lining, most folks can change the channel. Does it hurt the paranormal investigation field? No more than any other show does, Sure Ghost Hunters has developed a BIG fan base, but then, they are marketed hard.
I don't think saying nasty things about the show or the guys, is going to do any good, if anything we should all be greatful for them even getting a show, I mean come on, any exposure is good exposure for the field. I mean if I saw a show that featured alot of these so called paranormal groups, I would think the same thing. I have talked to groups who trash all the shows and then explain how they use mediums, and base everything on them, or how they have 1000s of pictures of spirit orbs, what a joke!I will say this then I'll come down off my soap box, ANY group or person who thinks Orbs are spirit energy..I don't want to investigate with. I'd never get anything done from laughing to hard, same as using mediums, I don't trust them, never have never will. to easy to fake, that is the worst thing, faked evidence!
Oh and ScootL, Doug, and Bonnie I applaud your willingness to post your straight up feelings even if it is against the grain of some. Look forward to your return.

my 2 cents worth but plz have change....

By dedfiend on November 3, 2009 - 5:11am

Personally speaking, and yes...the Mighty Keith (in roundish stature, not reputation heheh) has finally aquired a new PW to log into GT forums, lol....i watched both episodes of EP. And well...i think there are a few details escaping the nay sayers. such as, gm&dh label themselves as "the Shock Jocks of the supernatural" and on on the tv show itself admitted that "they do what other ghosthunters arent willing to do". that being said....DUH! what else needs to be explained...I personally found it entertaining, would i watch another episode? sure =) they're great guys! would i expect them to win an award for best prime time drama? no, but id watch it if they were nominated just to see the hijynx. i think some are missing the point of the shows name....give them a break. and as a bonus section to this post...i think its absurd to really think and speculate that EP has in some way led to GT's break, or that it has somehow strained any relationships. if anything has been strained, its the seat that has had to support my weight while spinning uncontrolably while scott sweats about me spilling my beverage of choice on the board heheh. i look forward to the new "season" of ghostlytalk! i personally garuantee that if GT doesnt smack the airwaves by the end of febuary, i shall give scottL. and doug swirlies while whipping them with red licorice....

These shows soil this field we all love

By JNLA on November 1, 2009 - 2:09pm

I always take anything that is shown in the media with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to the paranormal. Scott L, Doug and Bonnie have to walk a fine line on their show when it comes to the many friends they have made in this field especially if their friends do a show like Extreme Paranormal. I think that would be one of the most difficult things about doing a show like Ghostly Talk. Unfortunately, so many have sold out for their chance at 'fame and fortune'. It seems just about everyone wants to cash in on the paranormal craze. For those of us who are rational enough we can look at a show like Extreme Paranormal or Ghost Hunters and blow it off as hype. What concerns me is that so many other impressionable people watch these programs and actually believe that is how it truly is. I remember my times going to investigations on the Queen Mary and there would be people there who said they wanted to experience something paranormal like they saw on Ghost Hunters. I would just kind of roll my eyes or do a face palm. What is even a greater concern for me is that it will make the entire paranormal field into a joke, losing credibility among professional businesses, i.e. hotels, museums, restaurants, that do have genuine hauntings. In my own opinion, the pursuit of having your own show for profit where egos rear their ugly heads and the truth takes a back seat, no longer makes the person(s) trustworthy, and soils the paranormal field we all love.

Will strain relationships with Scott

By SimplyHalloween on October 29, 2009 - 8:40pm

I watched two episodes. OMG, so bad. Like you Xenite, I am a fan of their podcast, but this is the worst paranormal show by far; beyond a train wreck.
Scott, everything that you, Doug and Bonnie hate about Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State....and so on, is ten times worse in Extreme Paranomal. It comes across phony, and smells of "sell out".
Scott, I think I sensed it in your last shows; their show is putting a strain on your relationship with GM&DH, because you know you will eventually have to be honest with them about the show. There is no way you will like this show if you dis-like Ghost Hunters.

Extreme Paranormal

By arrow_keys on October 29, 2009 - 2:39pm

I've watched about 20 minutes and I was surprised at how staged it looks. More like they are reading dialogue when they are shown to be having casual conversations.

The straw that broke the......................

By SimplyHalloween on October 29, 2009 - 10:35pm

camels back. I wonder if Extreme Paranormal was "the" straw that did Ghostly Talk in.
Scott, I love listening to Ghostly Talk, because you guys keep it real. However, I suspect that you stopped the show because Ghostly Talk doesn't want to comment on, or at this point be affiliated with your friends at Extreme Paranormal.
The timing wasn't transparent until after I watched the first episode of Extreme Paranormal.
I think you did watch the show already.....get it off your chest, and bring the show back please.

Not the case...

By Bonnie on October 31, 2009 - 8:00pm

I have seen the show. Both episodes. I enjoyed them.

The timing had nothing to do with the release of Extreme Paranormal. And I personally have never been afraid to offer up my comments and I am in no way ashamed of my affiliation with my friends at Extreme Paranormal.

I say this with the up most respect Bonnie.....

By SimplyHalloween on November 1, 2009 - 8:19am

because I am a big fan of Ghostly Talk. You are the ONLY person who enjoyed this show. Have you seen the responses (other websites) to this show? You hate Ghost Hunters, but like this show? Is it the friends factor? or do you really find this show legit in representing authentic paranormal research? I am perplexed.

Extreme Paranormal is a "low blow", and a kick to the balls to those of you who have worked hard to keep honesty in the paranormal community; especially you guys (GT) who, on countless occassion, have been outspoken about such show and thier "sell out" tv productions.

Scott, I find it odd that you have not watched any episodes yet??? If my friends were just given a show (a rare opportunity), I would be having a viewing party for them!, a show of support!. I would at least watch the first episode........Yet you come out and give a one sentence response stating that you haven't seen it yet. Huh????? Where's the love???? You ask us listeners to keep an open mind, and to be objective and independent free thinkers; Hence my posting on this thread. Scott, it's time to walk the walk.

Doug, Will you remain silent on the issue?

I understand that I am in this forum where probably most in here are in a circle of friends. I live in Washington DC, not local Michigan. I don't know anyone in here on a personal level; I am the minority. Therefore, I am probably on the brink of having my access to this site restricted, because of my posting on this thread. So I will end this by saying: Thank you guys for the great shows, keep up the independent work, and stay true to yourselves.

Thanks.

Not the ONLY one...

By Bonnie on November 1, 2009 - 6:38pm

I have read the other sites. Well some of them anyways. I fully expected some people to slam them. I'm sure some of them had their minds made up before they ever even watched the show. I fully expected that. However, I pride myself on having my own opinion. Just because everyone else hates something doesn't mean I will. I've never been one to jump on the bandwagon so to speak.

I'm sure part of it is that they all are my friends. But I also found the show to be entertaining. Yes, I do hate Ghost Hunters because I don't find the show entertaining AT ALL! Again, it's my opinion. I'm entitled to it.

As far as finding the show legit in the representation of authentic paranormal research...I haven't seen one yet that is. Again, my personal opinion!

To Answer The Question..... :)

By ScottL on November 1, 2009 - 4:11pm

Hey Hey,

Sorry, have not really been much on the computer in the last couple of days. In regards to your inquiry Mr. Halloween we did a whole show 2 weeks ago discussing the reason for the break we are taking right now. I mean, we talked for like 2 and 1/2 hours on it. We did that so there would be no confusion on the issue.

No problem though....

I have stated this on the show in the last few weeks also, but I will say it again. I am cool with the guys from Extreme Paranormal but I do not support the show. The guys from Extreme Paranormal know my opinion, Bonnie and Doug know my opinion, and our few kind listeners I thought knew my opinion also. I DO NOT SUPPORT THE SHOW.

As for it affecting Ghostly Talk, that is hilarious. Again, please listen to the last show we did a couple of weeks ago for all the reasons. I thought we did our best to make everything as clear as possible. :)

No biggie though Mr. Halloween, I appreciate you asking these questions though and I really appreciate you listening to the show. We will be back like we said!! :)

Should add this also....

By ScottL on November 2, 2009 - 10:19am

Based on the fact that I do not support the show, I do not really care about the show. Therefore I have not really cared to make an effort to watch the show. When I do not really care about something, I do not prefer to give it any of my time.

My thoughts..

By NewWife on November 16, 2009 - 1:23pm

i watched the first episode, i have listened to the GM & DH show a few times in the past, and i like the guys on that show, they can be a little ...loud sometimes for my ears ( you know the horns and toys and stuff) but it made them fun...and i know they are friends of ghostly talk, so in support of ghostly talk i checked out the tv show, ..i really wanted to like it i did, especially since i like those guys on the internet/ radio, and know what great guys they are..but i really was surprised at the level of...showmanship that was put on there...and i wish them well, but that is just not for me..and to be further honest, it really turned me off to listening to their show in the future because it calls their integrity in paranomal research into question for me...how would i ever know if they are being honest with the information they put out there on investigations or if it is sensationalized for other means? ...either way i do wish them the best and luck, but the show is not for me...

Well I actually debated even

By Xenite on October 31, 2009 - 2:58am

Well I actually debated even posting what I did, You know the whole golden rule thing. But I was wonderng if it had bothered others as much as it did me, why I asked.

I will say it has some entertainment value, but it's kinda the bad entertainment, you know the train wreck that you cant look away from.

It's rough because I really like the G&D show, but keep thinking this is the last thing we need. How often do responsible teams get ran off or denied access to places because people believe this is what ghost hunters do? And seeing Extreme Paranormal only reinforces the stereotype.

Also really concered some kids may attempt these stunts, cutting yourself is bad enough, but spraying saline water into a room with a working jacob's ladder could get someone killed.

And yes I also miss GT... I found them after a injury at work two years ago confined me to bed for several months. They got me through alot of bordem and tough times. :)
