Rods...any takers?

By paranocturnal_r... at February 10, 2006 - 11:14pm | Cryptozoology

When I first heard about these mysterious fast flying spirials on Coast To Coast while Art was still the shows main host. I was fasinated. Some of the footage taken of these on video was truly some strange stuff. The mere fact that that was pretty much the only way to capture them was on video and to slow the footage down in order to view them. Anyone have any theories as to what exactly they just might be? Pre-historic, alien or something else?

I think some of the rods that are seen are birds or bats or sometimes bugs. While i'm not discounting all the images, I think many of them can be actually dismissed by natural phenomenon with low quality film. I had seen a few images of rods years back and upon searching it had been found that it was a large beetle or Bee(or similar) that was found in the area. It actually was capable of flying at speeds of like 90 mph and is rarely seen unless sitting on a surface. It seemed that they had simply caught these pictures during it's breeding season when it was flying around a bit.

I do think that some of the rods are actually something like a plasma-like creatures. Same as some of the orbs photographed. For a brief instant they are physical enough and move about before disapating.

There was a video of a rod that I was awestruck with. It was seen to be hoving over a small raised garden bed. It looked about a foot or two long and went back and forth in the video. With rather startaling clarity. completely blew my mind, only thing i could compare it to was some of the weird creatures I had seen while diving in the red sea... something like a swimming nudibranc It looked as though the rod was a lighter than are body, with this dress flowing around it. It looked alien to me, and got me looking at all the rod videos I could find. There was even one on the CNN news broadcast seen over Bagdad during the war.

I was watching a show on

By Poppy on January 14, 2008 - 11:53am

I was watching a show on history channel and they investigated rods. I have to agree with their findings that almost all the rods pictured could be explained as just the camera trying to shoot a fast moving object with a shutter speed or film speed that was to slow for it. Most look like bugs, or birds.BUT in the same breath I have ot say that not all could be explained, so who knows.

I saw the same show

I have to agree with Poppy here.

The main thing to remember is that there are very few cameras out there in the hands of the public that are capable of taking clear video of a bird or bug in flight.

Also, because they can be saturated out by stronger background objects, it can make them look like they are moving behind those objects, thus apearing to be farther away, larger, & faster than they really are.

It is a facinating topic though, and I love to see rod videos and speculate about the possibilities.

regards, Canis

I've only just heard of

By Sketcher on July 5, 2007 - 9:20am

I've only just heard of these things and did some searching around on them. Pretty freaky stuff. How can something that small move that fast, though? Not to sound stupid, but ..if they're that tiny how the hell can they propel themselves that fast? It just doesn't sound possible.

Yeah I lean towards them

Yeah I lean towards them being bugs and birds myself.
