Brian Jones is a nice guy, but...

By Max Szabo at November 14, 2006 - 6:57am | General

I finally managed to hear the Oct 16 follow-up to the original Oct 9th show, and I feel obliged to - again - call it the way I see it.

Without going into great detail (since not too many GT'ers seem to enjoy it when I do that, and I have my online popularity to consider, after all...) I feel that;

- Brian Jones has clear psychological issues, which may well be the product of the alleged phenomena which he records and airs, or (and here's the kicker) vice versa

- he may well exhibit psychokinetic (more accurately, psychomagnetic) abilities, which may even be controlled by aspects of his mind above the purely subconscious (in which case, things get complicated...)

- it therefore makes sense that Dr Rorke should be keeping tabs on him, but also keeping him at a distance, thereby invoking the admittedly manic and compulsive aspects of Mr Jones' personality which seem to participate in the anomalous vocalizations

- until a long-term, locked-down experimental procedure is conducted with Mr Jones, which eliminates all thinkable hoaxing techniques to the satisfaction of the skeptics, this will never be progressed as an ITC best-case

- until Mr Jones is successful in normalizing his life-patterns (regular sleep, food, low drug use inc. alcohol) it is going to be too easy for parapsychologists (or plain old psychologists) to find prosaic explanations for his alleged occurrances

- until Mr Jones is able to normalize his income base, such that a critic is unable to refer to motive-clouding patterns of behaviour (including on-air references to past gifts of thousands of dollars which allowed him to feel relatively relaxed and peaceful), it is going to be too easy for claims like 'charlatan' and 'hoaxer' to be applied to him (truthfully or not)

- until Mr Jones moves beyond this manic collection of alleged evidence, and begins to work with existing experimental and testing procedures in locked-down scenarios, even parapsychologists who legitimately suspect that he may be a bona fide telekinetic adept will be unable to do their thing, and this cycle of believer-trawling will likely continue in further situations which will likely prove nothing, but which will also make Mr Jones the centre of controversy (which, a psychologist would argue, is likely to be the actual goal of the exhibited behaviours, whether or not they involve paranormal effects, given the pattern. This would be tragic.)

Having written all that, I should add that I do think that Jones seems to be a pretty nice guy, who is not a raving lunatic by any means, but who may be in a situation where he is being driven into dissociative behaviour and self-medication by an unwanted parapsychological gift. (If so, he would not be the first.) I have known (and drunk with) people like Mr Jones in the past, but can recognise that he is not some cool-headed, collected, measured presenter of information and data encountered during his travels. Instead, he is a highly-emotionally-involved pusher of claims, who reacts emotionally when his evidence is not immediately accepted as belief-worthy.

What is most interesting, however, is that Mr Jones' latent psychomagnetic abilities come a distant second when compared to his skills (likely to also be preconscious) at coordinating the behaviour of spectators, such that they (i.e. quite possibly you, the reader) feel a strong need to come to his defence, and to regard even the mildest critic (or even a guarded supporter, like myself) with suspicion and hostility. So, for example, if you find yourself becoming emotional as you read this posting, ask yourself: why do I believe what I believe, about Mr Jones? What has got into me? And is Max deliberately helping me along in this, the punk?)

Mr Jones may or may not be psychomagnetic (like, quite possibly Lou Gentile, for e.g.). He is, however, a talented underdog demagogue.

Thanks for the info. I'm new here and respect your critical thinking.

I do have just one thought. In my personal experience EVP seems to come through better in the presence of high levels of emotional excitement (as you alluded to). It's becoming hard to deny it in my own personal work (but that's just one body of evidence lol).

Am interested in hearing his EVPs. The rest of his alleged powers sound pretty out there to me. But I'll try and listen with an open mind. Thanks again :)

But this

By Narabic on November 21, 2006 - 3:17am

Max,
thanks for the intelligent comments and verbalized observations. Let me spell this out again... I am not aiming to be a spokesperson for the field of itc research.. that's something you thought of. My main objective, as I've stated consistently for a few years now, is to find some real assistance with the heavy load of putting MUCH time and energy into " actual " experimentation to advance in strengthening the interactive ( seemingly interactive ) dialog I've scratched the surface of at great sacrifice to myself over a period of eight or so years now.

To tell you all where I am at with this right now.. I have about had enough of the dead end with the absolute miss as far as finding any true assistance in being able to properly continue with this challenging endeavor. It seems that most people like to analyze all of this phenomena, but not really do the actual work. Personally, as I've said far too many times apparently upon deaf ears, my clear aim has been to push very hard with major " manic " ( meaning a bit unbalanced yet directed extraordinary energetic application ) in my case, with a clear aim.. to advance in itc in ways where it can be much more on demand... with obvious uncommon progress.

In any case, right now ( Nov. 20, 2006 ) I am leaving this stuff behind.. I am going to redirect my " manic " intellect towards something more self serving... if I indeed do find myself independantly wealthy enough, to finally, respectably be in place to properly push the itc plows as extremely as I have over these past few years at severe strain on myself. In contrast, as a decisive result of my long overdue redirection, where I will be able to fund myself as opposed to putting myself and basic needs second to the ambition, thinking someone would actually help me on this level after spending years this way gaining abilities to interact, causing myself MUCH hardship with that lost cause. I will not only be able to do amazing work, but I will be much less tense, and I will be much more direct with my words. That ought to be welcomed I'm sure.

As far as my psychological instability... you don't have to be a genius, or even think you are Max, to notice this about me.. I made a point of pushing the issue, to weed out those who are half hearted enough to be immediately discouraged, who otherwise might have contacted me through curiosity, and inherently fall short of addressing the basic point I made.. I was just passionately idealistic enough to think and deeply believe for a long hard time, that the results were worth the very rough ride I put myself through. I'd like to make this clear as well... I am very seriously interested in building systems to interact directly with the voices.. the ones that are of fairly like mind that is. A small percentage to be sure, and that goes for incarnate minds as well !

I'll now leave the important things to the thinkers who like to write about this stuff on forums. Oh yeah.. Max, look up the word " demagogue " how exactly does this word apply to me in your mind ?? I'll take the " talent " reference.. I agree with you here, but I've never tried to lead anyone, there are plenty of social groups related to these phenomena that are doing quite nicely without me, and we usually tend to irritate each other. I'll state it plainly. I am not interested in being much more sociable than I am right now. I get far more accomplished being a loner. I am sociable when I want to be ! That's my choice. Admittedly, I could use an attitude adjustment.. working on that now !

Well, best wishes all, keep up the good chat !

Narabic out ( Brian J. )

PS : thanks Jeremy for being as good of a guy as you are... if you decide to get back to me, I'll just say here that I've sifted out what I'd like to ask you for.. it is concise, and if I end up receiving this from you, I'll respectfully put it on the shelf with the rest of my itc potential, and value it as a great tool, and a potentially useful gift from a good guy !

To go with the flow...

By Max Szabo on November 21, 2006 - 8:17am

Assuming that I'm addressing Mr Jones here, I'd like to wish you all the best with your consolidation phase, and genuinely hope that your future is one that is both rewarding personally and also of value to the slow, steady push of paranormal research.

Stranger things, after all, have happened.

Yes, I think I see where you are coming from, Max.

My thoughts are this...

First and foremost, I believe that Brian's research is 100% valid. With that said, I do think that he needs to cool it and not take it as serious as he is because I too believe that his ambition is affecting his health. That is my opinion. Now...if he IS doing ok physically and mentally, I will say that IF he wants his research to be taken seriously he should find a spokesman to relay his findings for him because, like Max says, no one is going to take a "beer drinking psycho" (not my words) seriously.

Steve

PS ~ I think only clearly legible EVPs should be taken seriously as Dr Rorke says....common guys, haven't we evolved past the orb picture days?

My Perspective

By jspencer on November 14, 2006 - 10:16pm

I just wanted to take a moment to give my opinion, as it is no more or no less valid the the previous opinion. What I find interesting about the messages we all like to leave in these forums is that no of us really know anything about the people leaving posts. So as you read this just realize that I understand none of you know nothing about me so not matter how well I articulate my opinion that is all it is...An opionion. Much like the opinion above, however I will keep mine short and sweet.

I am a very serious ITC researcher and have spent many many hours recording and analyzing data. I have established a relationship with Brian recently and I have gained access to many of his files, as well as conducted recording sessions with him over the phone. I have found his recordings to be as valid as anything out there reguardless of his personal mental state. Brian is a very unique individual who has made some amazing progress over the years. We all have our personal flaws in life, but in addition we all have a piece to contribute to the bigger picture. This perhaps is Brian's piece
